A young widow, Tatjana, madly in love, is trying to seduce a charming priest who is incapable in terms of management and was recently undergoing treatment for alcoholism. A young general of the Croatian army, the priest's twin brother, is trying to ‘help’ him. The village magnate Marinko, former owner of a car wash in Berlin, is asking Tatjana to marry him, but in vain. The relationship of his daughter Nemka with a villain and haiku poet is another blow to his reputation. The backdrop of Dalmatia is Croatia's poorest land, living on expatriates' money, patriotism and memories of German cowboy films shot there ages ago.
