About the director
Jean Luc Godard was born in Paris in 1930. In 1952 he began writing film criticism for the “Les cahiers du cinéma”. After several short films, he made his big debut in cinema with Breathless (1960) and became one of the most well-known auteurs of the French New Wave. By now J. L. Godard has authored over a hundred short, feature and documentary films, among which are A Woman is a Woman (1961), Vivre sa vie (1962), Contempt (1963), Le Petit Soldat (1963), Pierrot le Fou (1965), Masculin Féminin (1966), Weekend (1967) and others.
